Wireless scanning is one of the newest and most popular features of the iX500. Once you have gone through installation and set-up your ScanSnap iX500 to scan wirelessly to your computer, you will enjoy freedom from cables and wireless scanning convenience. However you may find that you are not always connected to the same router. Maybe you have purchased a new router for your network or you’ve moved the scanner from your home network to your office network. How do you configure your scanner to work with a new router? Here is a quick guide on how to change routers on both a PC and a Mac.

Wireless scanning is one of the newest and most popular features of the ScanSnap iX500. You will enjoy freedom from cables and the convenience of wireless scanning once you have gone through installation and set-up your iX500; however, you may find that you are not always connected to the same router. If you’ve purchased a new router for your network or you’ve moved the scanner from your home to office network you may be searching for an explanation of how to configure your scanner. We’re here to help! Here’s a quick guide on how to change routers on both PC and Mac.

Before you start, make sure that the scanner is connected to the computer via USB and that the iX500 document feeder is open and on. Also, make sure that your computer is connected to the router that you want to configure the scanner to.

On a PC:
Click on the “Start” menu, go to “All Programs” and scroll down until you see “ScanSnap Manager.” Click on the “ScanSnap Manager Folder”; then select the “ScanSnap Wireless Setup Tool.”

On a Mac:
Open “Launchpad” from your dock, find the “ScanSnap Wireless Setup Tool” and open it.

When the wireless setup tool window opens, click on the top option labeled, “Wireless Network Setup Wizard.” Follow the instructions provided by the wizard. When you hit “next” if you have already configured the scanner to another router you will see a pop up window like in the picture below. When you see this window, select “Yes” to reconfigure the scanner to another router.

PC:

Mac:

Select the new router that you would like to connect the scanner to. Once you select the new router continue to follow the instructions provided by the set-up wizard. Once you’ve completed all the steps provided by the wizard you have successfully reconfigured your scanner to new router.

How to Get Around with ScanSnap Home Software

You can add or change a wireless access point that is used for the ScanSnap Cloud service.

For example, if you set up at the wireless access point at work after setting up at the wireless access point at home, perform the following procedure:

iOS, Android

  1. Start the ScanSnap Cloud application.
  2. Tap on the main screen.
  3. Tap [Settings].

    The [Settings] screen appears.

  4. Tap [Add wireless access point/router].

    The [Add wireless access point/router] screen appears.

  5. Select a ScanSnap scanner that you add a wireless access point to.

    The [Add wireless access point/router] screen appears.

  6. Enter the password for your ScanSnap account.
  7. Tap [Authenticate].
  8. Tap [Add wireless access point/router].

To change the wireless access point to another wireless access point on the same network, turn off the ScanSnap, and then perform the above procedure.

    When the setting process is complete, a wireless access point is set to the ScanSnap.
